Freeze Tag

Remember when you were a kid and you'd play freeze tag with your friends?
or if you're more like me,
remember a couple of weeks ago when you played freeze tag with your friends?

That game is awesome.

I can't say that I completely understood it when I first starting playing though.
I don't remember much about the first few times that I played it, but I do remember that no one really explained to me that we were all (besides the person who was "it") a team, so I didn't quite get it.
My thought was, "Why bother saving other people? If I don't save anyone, then I'm more likely to win!"
So as all of my friends would cry out for me to come and "save" them, I'd run around pretending not to hear them.
I was a wee bit competitive.

I'm not sure when exactly I clued in that no one person wins, but something tells me that it took a long time.
Now, as one of the "big kids" who leads this game, I have to chuckle when I see that one kid who's like I was.

Because in order to save someone, you have to sacrifice.
You have to stop running directly away from the person chasing after you and make a detour.
You have to be willing to lose everything, to save someone.

And, I know that I may be the only person who's spent this much time thinking about freeze tag, but I feel like God is like that other kid.
The one who is constantly getting tagged because the instant that they are free they start saving people.

He laid everything on the line just so that you can play with Him.
And He lost everything, but it's okay, because He got to rescue you!
