Prejudices

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about learning something crazy from a children's bible.
Over the past year or so I've been reading a very angry and hurt, atheist's comments on a Christian blog and they've been blowing my mind and making me constantly rethink my assumptions.
I've learned so much from people that I once thought were not so bright and seen great love from people that I once assumed would be jerks.
Bands that I once thought were full of themselves put out songs that show incredible faith and understanding of who God is.
It almost seems like every time I put my prejudices aside long enough for someone to talk, I learn so much.

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

  1. This is awesome to learn this while young. It took me a lot longer. What's even more amazing is to see people thru God's eyes and realize His love is the same for everyone, no matter how annoying they seem to us. No matter if they believe Him or not. He loves them and wants them to be His children. And with all His power, He gives us a choice to be His child or not. And He still continues to love us. Sometimes I think that's just crazy. God, please give me love like yours to give away to everyone I meet.
