Worship

It's really not about you.

This is what I've recently realized about worship. It seems so simple, but I've never thought about it.
I think that if someone had asked me "Is worship about you?" I would've said no, but when asked what I thought that it was about, I might say that it's about my relationship with God.

Here's the thing though, it's really not.
It's about God.
That's it.
And once you catch this, your worship is going to take on a whole new level.

For the past while God has been teaching me not to run on emotion, but rather on passion.
I used to think that if I wasn't crying after a worship service that I didn't connect, and I wasn't actually worshiping, but instead was just going through the motions and singing along.
Sometimes this is true, but not always.

Worship isn't about me.
It's about God.

Worship isn't about my relationship with God.
It's just about God.

Worship isn't about me worshiping.
It's about God being worshiped.

Worship isn't about raising your hands in just the right way.
It's about God.

Worship is about God, the creator, being recognized and praised for His greatness, His awesomeness, His love, and His majesty.

Here's a few of my favourite worship bands:

1.) Anthem Lights: http://anthemlights.com/
One of my favourite songs by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2P5WRNGPgA0

2.) The City Harmonic: http://thecityharmonic.com/
One of my favourite songs by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_6JQDsbtlM

3.) MercyMe: http://mercyme.org/#!/ss:facebook
I couldn't choose just one song, so you'll have to look 'em up.
