Your Story vs. THE Story
Your Story vs. THE Story
(Last but not least, part 3)
Franis Chan explains the briefness of our life quiet well in his book, Crazy Love. He uses an analogy of being an extra in a movie.
You are so excited about this movie and you invite all of your friends and family to come see "this movie about you." Everyone sits down to watch and quickly realizes that the movie is not about you! The movie is about a completely different character, and you have such a brief role that the audience only sees the back of your head for a brief second. Your family and friends would think you were crazy for thinking that the movie was about you.
The same goes for THE story. The story of life, of the universe, of God's plan. Francis goes on to ask if you were there when God created the earth? Were you there when God flooded the earth? Were you there when God sent His son? Were you there when Jesus performed miracles and preached to the thousands?
Although your story is significant to you and your legacy it is really not a big deal!
Think about the people even just 50 years from now.
No one is going to care about that embarrassing thing you said or did the other day.
No one is going to care about your test score from last week.
No one is going to care about what sport team you were on, or what clothes you were, or how your hair looks.
No one will care about anything that you've done, unless God was in it.
Do you think that Moses' life would be such a big deal if God didn't use it?
When we think about Moses do we first think about how weird he looked? or whether or not he did well in school? Of course not. We remember how God used him to free the Isrealites!
So chill out!
Let God do what He wants to do in your life. Your story is important, but only if God is in it!
3rd challenge: Calm down.
